Eleven Courageous Democrats

NYTimes Interactive Graphic: House Vote on H.R.1: Making supplemental appropriations for fiscal year ending 2009

Comment: Kathee and I were discussing this morning the eleven who voted "no" on the 825 Billion Dollar Boondoggle. My guess was that they were all Blue Dog Democrats from the South. I was nearly right.

  1. Wow, that really was amazing that they voted against party lines!

"Texas Congressman Ron Paul has warned that passing the latest proposed economic stimulus package would be akin to pouring kerosene on an already raging fire.

Paul, who is also a member of the House Financial Services Committee, warned that such measures will cause a recession to turn into a full scale depression possibly worse than that of the 1930s."

It's worth your time to research what Paul says about this bill. I tend to think he is right on and is one of the few who has the courage to try to tell us the truth. I still am completely baffled why in 2008 so many conservatives, including Christian conservatives, wrote him off as a right-wing fringe lunatic. I fear he may end up being the only one who was even close to reality.

  2. Re Ron Paul: Perhaps more like pouring gasoline on a fire! (Which I was stupid enough to do one time!)
