A couple of old photos

Mother (who turned 88 on Friday) took a bunch of old slides and had them converted to jpegs. Here are two:

Mom and Dad with my older Sis. I'm guessing that this is would be about 1947 (my Sister is now 62).

This is a picture of Mom and Dad with Sis and me in (I'm guessing) 1949. In front of our house on Monroe Street in Fort Wayne Indiana.

See House Lust for another photo of our house.

  1. Your mom converted old photos to jpegs? That's pretty good! Maybe that's where you picked up your interest in computers.

  2. Love the color pattern on the roof of that car. Of course, might just be because he's been holding on to it for what--about a decade at this point? About a 1935 in the Ford, or....

I'd be interested to know what hardware you'd recommend to convert slides to soft copy. My dad has thousands of 'em that he'd love to get that way.

  3. Re: Color pattern on the car: We think the picture has deteriotated with time thus distorting the colors.

The first car that I remember was a '49 Chevrolet Fleetline in a light green. In '53 they bought a Ford wagon.

Mom and my Sis sorted through all kinds of slides (I guess thousands of them) and selected about 250. They took them to Sam's club and had them put on a DVD. Each kid got one.

  4. Still love the effect--like a subdued walnut burl.
