Tonight's reading: Ephesians 1-2

To the praise of His glory (1:3-14)

1. Elect: He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world
   
2. Adopted: having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself
   
3. Accepted: He made us accepted in the Beloved
   
4. Redeemed: In Him we have redemption through His blood
   
5. Forgiven: In Him we have ... the forgiveness of sins
   
6. Rich: We have ... the riches of His grace which He made to abound toward us in all wisdom and prudence
   
7. Knowledge: having made known to us the mystery of His will
   
8. Inheritance: In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will
   
9. Saved: In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation
   
10. Sealed: in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession
    

God's sovereignty in salvation

1. (4) He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world
   
2. (5) predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ
   
3. (5) according to the good pleasure of His will
   
4. (9) according to His good pleasure which He purposed in Himself
   
5. (11) predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will
   
6. (19) the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power
   
7. (22) He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church
